Colonial Strength & Conditioning Coach Opens Elite Training Facility in Pittsburgh

2010-02-17

Scott Umberger, along with cousin and current NHL player RJ Umberger, to open world-class sports training and wellness center near campus

(PIttsburgh, PA) -- The RMU coaching staff is pleased to announce that strength and conditioning coach Scott Umberger, along with his cousin and current NHLer RJ Umberger, will be opening a new elite training facility on February 27th.

Said Scott, "I know what's available in Pittsburgh, and when I tell people our place is 'World Class,' it truly is.  This video link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQi7rWFwjNc is a before-and-after of when I started working on what was a parking garage and turned it into our 'sanctuary,' as my college athletes call it.  The funny thing is that I wanted to go a little more conservative, but it was RJ who wanted to give Pittsburgh what it didn't have.  As you can see, a ton of work went into this facility.  Two local news crews will be coming out next week to run a story on us, and we are also going to be in the local papers. RJ will be on the Mark Madden show talking about Umberger Performance.  For those who don't know who Mark is, he's the host of the 105.9 FM 'Sports Talk Drive Time Show.'  He'll also be MC'ing the event.

"The Grand Opening on the 27th starts at 11:00 A.M. and ends at 4:00 P.M.  RJ will have a special meet and greet time, and we're working on getting a chef to do a demo to show the players and parents how to prepare quick, healthy meals."

Said coach Jason Evans, "Our success over the past three seasons has been a direct result of Scott's individualized workout programs for our players.  Before he came onboard, we were a talented team that would routinely get pushed around and lose the one-on-one battles that really dictate whether you win or lose on any given night.  Now, even though we give up a lot of pounds to opposing teams, our players are bigger, faster, and more physically fit.  It makes a huge difference, and Scott is the reason for that.  Scott's new facility will also be a nice recruiting tool for us, too.  There aren't many teams in the country who have access to this kind of facility."

If you would like to learn more about Umberger Perfomance or attend their grand opening on February 27th, please visit www.umbergerperformance.com, or e-mail coach Evans at evans@rmu.edu or Scott Umberger at scott@umbergerperformance.com.

Good luck, Scott and RJ, on your new endeavour!
